We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBA partners with SUNY Buffalo State and SUNY Delhi to provide access to college credit-bearing classes for current transfer school students which will also include wraparound support at Lower East Side Preparatory High School, Brooklyn Academy and Brooklyn Bridge Academy.

What The Assistant Program Manager Does:

  • Develop and document all program activities.
  • Oversee all program operations and manage direct reporting program staff and their subordinates.
  • Be available to address emergencies outside of regular business hours – i.e. evenings, overnight, and weekends.
  • Ensure that all client and program files are kept in compliance with CAMBA's and funder's standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise programmatic activities of direct reporting staff.
  • Observe direct reporting staff engaging with students.
  • Conduct student and program progress reviews with staff.
  • Respond to all concerns from Principals and meet with them on a regular basis.
  • Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of contract reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use.
  • Analyze program and demographic data to make programmatic improvements.
  • Confer with CAMBA management staff regarding programmatic and personnel issues as needed.
  • Participate in staff/funder/outside agency meetings as requested.
  • Review and approve time sheets.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting program staff.
  • Immediately report significant events, monitoring visits, funder events, or incidents that could post liability to CAMBA to the appropriate Program Manager.
  • Direct client service/program responsibilities in addition to the above.
  • Understand all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff.
  • Work with staff to set realistic weekly and monthly performance targets in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities for professional development of staff.
  • Develop appropriate marketing material and marketing/outreach strategies for the program as needed.
  • Regularly check Client Track to ensure staff is entering all required data.
  • Facilitate SUNY Buffalo State’s Mastering the Academic Environment class and Learning Community Program class, as required.
  • Create curriculum for two SUNY Buffalo State classes.
  • Work with staff to support parents through the college enrollment and financial aid application process and provide resources for them to support students’ coursework (i.e. through newsletters, office hours, and parent learning sessions).
  • Observe student learning in Buffalo State certified English classes and virtual classes through SUNY Delhi as needed.
  • Plan, organize, and accompany students on field trips to various colleges, including SUNY Buffalo State and SUNY Delhi.
  • Manage and coordinate the program across three (3) schools.
  • Work closely with Principals to ensure the program’s success in soliciting and accepting student applications, scheduling classes, and is running smoothly.
  • Work with College Bound Instructors to create workshops and activities to engage parents.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Education, Counseling, Social Work or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Two (2) years applicable experience working with youth.
  • One (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong Computer literacy in other Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to balance shifting priorities and keep track of multiple tasks and deadlines.

Compensation: $65,000 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
