Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

Beacon 361 is a community center that serves the whole family, including youth (kindergarten through age 21), adults and seniors. We offer a variety of services and activities to enhance community engagement and healthy living. Beacon 361 operates year-round during non-school hours, on weekdays, weekends and in the summer representing a Citywide collaboration between DYCD and the New York City Department of Education. Beacon 361 transformed P.S. 361 into a resource for the whole community by offering an integrated range of programming tailored to local needs. Among the highlights of our program offerings at out Beacons are Archery, Fencing, STEM programs, Learn to Swim, Bike NYC and an array of the arts, extracurricular health and fitness activities.
 

Position: Assistant Program Director

Reports To: Program Director

Location: 1957 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11210

What The Assistant Program Director Does:

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.
  • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.
  • Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.
  • Communicate with peers in other CAMBA programs on issues related to client progress. 
  • Understand all aspects of contract requirements and communicate this understanding to staff.
  • Work with staff to set realistic weekly and monthly performance targets in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Observe direct reporting staff engaging with clients and/or supervisory staff.
  • Conduct weekly client progress reviews with staff.
  • Conduct periodic internal file review and implement Quality Assurance measures as needed to ensure quality service delivery to clients.
  • Prepare reports and statistical information for both CAMBA management and funder use. 
  • Assist in the analysis of program and demographic data to make programmatic improvements.
  • Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities for professional development of staff.
  • Assist the Program Manager in providing oversight for all aspects of the program in his/her absence.
  • Confer with the Program Manager and/or other CAMBA management staff as needed regarding programmatic and personnel issues.
  • Attend staff/funder/outside agency meetings as requested.
  • Review and sign timesheets. 
  • May prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff members.
  • May develop appropriate marketing material and marketing/outreach strategies for the program.
  • May network both within and outside CAMBA to expand client recruitment and opportunities for client success.
  • May have direct client service/program responsibilities in addition to the above.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and two years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

Must obtain the following clearances:

  • The NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Sex Offender Registry (SOR),
  • The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).
  • The New York City Department of Education (DOE)
  • The New York State Central Registrar (SCR)
  • The New York State Staff Exclusion List (SEL).
  • Criminal History Review

Compensation: $43,000-$45,000 annually
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization. 

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
